Within contingent labor, refers to any relationship in which a staffing buyer contracts for the services of a contractor, consultant, or contingent worker through another company – typically a staffing company. Also refers to the practice of one staffing company contracting with a second staffing company to place a worker on assignment at one of its clients. This practice is prohibited by some clients due to the lack of transparency and risk it can create.
